Take Action to Move HR1 Forward

Today, a second hearing for HR1, the For the People Act, was held in the U.S. House! This bill comprises a bold, transformative set of reforms to strengthen our democracy and return political power to the people. The League has worked to influence the language in this bill and to ensure it moves forward.
Today’s hearing is a great step forward, but we need your help to keep building momentum. Will you contact your Representative today to keep this bill moving?
Voters sent a clear message in the 2018 election, by supporting democracy reform initiaitves in states across the country, that they are ready for bold leadership on these issues at the federal level. And the U.S. House of Representatives has responded with a key piece of legislation, that will strengthen voting rights, end gerrymandering, and improve transparency in our elections.
The extraordinary and comprehensive reforms in HR1 are good for all Americans and deserve bipartisan support. That’s why we need YOU to contact your Representative and express your support for this legislation.
As an organization with a mission of empowering voters and defending democracy, the League of Women Voters is proud to support the For the People Act, which will improve American elections by making our election system more free, fair, and accessible to all eligible Americans. It’s time to put power back in the hands of the American people.
